Transfer
In the context of a digital archive, transfer is synonymous with the accession procedure, that is the process of transferring those records selected for preservation from the creator's computer to the accessions archive where the Submission Information Package (SIP) is generated. The procedure should be governed by a transfer protocol which ensures that the authenticity and integrity of the records is maintained at all stages, and an audit trail which documents each stage of the process.
