Glossary - S
SIP - Submission Information Package
The SIP is one of three kinds of 'information package' specified in OAIS' information model; each of these information packages consist of the content to be preserved plus its associated metadata at a given point in the OAIS. The SIP is the material submitted to the repository by the donor. In some cases the SIP might include structured metadata; in the case of personal archives this is unlikely.
