Refreshing
Refreshing is the process of copying content from one storage device to another. The same media could be used, e.g. copying from CD-ROM to CD-ROM, or the data could be transferred to a different media, e.g. CD-ROM to tape. Refreshing can only be a component of a long-term preservation strategy while the current rate of file format obsolesence continues.
