Metadata content standard
A metadata content standard sets out rules for the semantic content of metadata elements in all documents which conform to that standard. It ensures that the type of data included in each element is consistent, and sometimes also stipulates that data should be expressed in a uniform way. It might include a data dictionary or other types of controlled vocabulary. PREMIS is an example of a metadata content standard.
