Institutional repository

An institutional repository is a mechanism for capturing, storing, preserving and making accessible in digital form the intellectual output of an institution, particularly a research institution like a university. The contents of an institutional repository might include: pre-prints of journal articles; post-prints of articles accepted for publication or revised with comments from academic readers; theses and dissertations; conference papers; learning objects; and datasets resulting from research projects. Some repository software packages have been developed for use with institutional repository content, including DSpace, Fedora and Eprints.
