Hybrid archive

The documents in a single archive can be in any form and recorded on any medium, which means that most archives are to an extent 'hybrid' in nature. However, in the digital age, the term hybrid has come to denote archives which contain a mixture of digital and 'traditional' (e.g. paper or hard copy) material. The digital and hard copy components of a hybrid archive have very different preservation requirements, and will be treated in different ways by the archivist, but they must always be intellectually united to ensure that the archive's integrity and authenticity is maintained intact.
