Finding aid
'Finding aid' is a term used by archivists to describe a variety of tools used for discovering primary sources. There are many kinds of finding aid, the most common include summary descriptions of an institution's holdings; catalogues containing full descriptions of an archive; and indexes which allow users to locate material pertaining to subjects, places and people.
