Digital Signature
A Digital Signature is the electronic equivalent of a paper signature and, as such, is a means of verifying whether a message was actually sent by the person who claimed to have sent it. The sender's private key encrypts the signature, and the recipient decrypts the signature with the sender's public key. A digital signature also provides verification to the recipient that the file has not been altered since it was signed by the sender, ensuring its authenticity.
