Glossary - A
Authorisation
Authorisation is closely linked to authentication. A digital repository's authentication system should be able to categorise users into different types, and each type will have authorisation to undertake specified activities in relation to the repository's content. Once authenticated, a user is authorised to carry out any activity permitted to their user type.
