Project Deposit Agreement
The Deposit Agreement which can be downloaded here was designed for the purposes of the project. The agreement accommodates the fact that the project is a temporary arrangement (funded for 2 years) and that the depositor is making an agreement with two repositories (the two project partners: the Universities of Oxford and Manchester). This means that the Agreement will require some changes for more general use. The project is planning to produce more general templates for gifts and deposits in due course.
The agreement contains clauses which give the repository licence to copy materials for digital preservation purposes without infringing the rights of the owner of any intellectual property rights in the materials.

The agreement is available in ODT, PDF and RTF formats.
- ODT: part of the open document format (ISO 26300) (ODF) family, the ODT format is an open, XML-based, standard for textual documents. ODT files can be viewed by applications including OpenOffice.org 2.0, StarOffice 8 and IBM Workplace.
- PDF: several applications for viewing and printing PDF documents exist. Adobe Acrobat Reader is one of many which may be downloaded free of charge.
- RTF: many of the word processing applications used on the Linux, Macintosh and Windows platforms can view RTF files. Some of the applications which can read RTF files include: AppleWorks, openoffice.org, Microsoft Word, Star Office and Wordperfect.
