Second meeting of the Academic Advisory Board
Monday, 12 December 2005
John Rylands University Library, University of
Manchester
Background
With the aid of a tutorial, members of the board explored sample objects through a Fedora digital repository. The aims of the meeting were to think about search and discovery requirements relating to digital objects, to consider the research value of different types of digital materials accessioned by the project, and to identify factors which might add or detract value. On completion of the tutorial, participants were asked to complete an evaluation form which asked questions about:
- the relative historical value of collections and objects
- what is needed to prove that an object is what it purpots to be
- what search and discovery features researchers and curators might want in a digital repository.
